Backyard Taunt

Sixteen and I was running
in the nude in my backyard
in the rain. Balmy yet wet.
Tawny skies during a lightning storm.
I taunted God to strike me down,
because I have a sense of humor.
My God does too, so my God didn’t.
My God, what do you want from me?
Is it always going to feel like this?
I was running high and away
from my undying emotions.
I laughed as I cried
because I have a sense of humor.
My God, my God does too.
